Culto Mar

A Mexican avant-garde fashion label turning ancestral symbolism into a contemporary brand with a purpose-driven community.

The challenge

Turn the spiritual symbolism of the Mexican serpent into an authentic, contemporary fashion brand — without falling into clichés — in a saturated market. The narrative had to convey transformation, power and authenticity, and connect with people who see fashion as a way to express their personal evolution.

What we did

Culto Mar was developed from concept to launch through the Fashion Lab — conceptualization, naming, visual identity and strategic positioning, all the way to a market-ready foundation. At its centre we built a living identity around the serpent as a symbol of transformation, power and roots, and carried it into products, content and experiences. We grew a diverse, purpose-driven community through collaborations, co-creation, festivals and participatory formats like Reels and challenges — and sharpened the brand's focus on its niche. The work went on to be featured in Vogue.

The work

The print is the brand. Every piece is the serpent in another form, so the product does the storytelling before any caption does.
Espíritu Libre, in Espacio Vogue México. The collection presented as editorial rather than as a catalogue.
The same language as a full piece. Designed to be worn loose and layered, which is how the community actually wears it.
Hangtag, labelling and a production run behind them. This is the part that decides whether a brand reaches a shelf, and it is where sourcing the factory paid off.
Espacio Vogue México. Under two years from a first concept to editorial pages.
“Through this process I learned a lot about my business — and it saved me a lot of time and money.”
